Australian Journalist Peter Greste and his Al Jazeera English colleagues, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed, have been jailed in Egypt in an outrageous assault on the freedom of the press and the cornerstone of democracy: the right to free speech.

A rally to support Australian Journalist Peter Greste and his Al Jazeera English colleagues, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed, will be held at Federation Square in Melbourne.

The above image will be displayed on the Big Screen as the start of a campaign to have the image tweeted from smart phones and tablets.

Statements of support from the Melbourne Press Club and the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance will be recorded in front of the Big Screen image and released on Social Media.
