David Stirling, Chairman of the Marysville Chamber of Commerce said, "The Wish You Were Here campaign is aimed at focusing on the future. While Black Saturday is obviously a part of our history we now need to concentrate on rebuilding our economy to ensure we have a strong and sustainable economic future to create local employment.

"Currently we have new businesses establishing themselves and others getting ready to commence - therefore the Wish You Were Here campaign is so important."

The Wish You Were Here campaign, launched by the Marysville Tourism Group and the Marysville Chamber of Commerce, started as an internal Bendigo Bank project to encourage staff to holiday in Marysville and has now been expanded to a wider community campaign.

Jane Sydenham-Clarke from Fed Square said, "The Wish You Were Here campaign was launched on the Big Screen at Fed Square and utilizes ten of the most scenic images of Marysville to be developed as email signatures promoting Marysville to day-trippers and holiday makers. In 2009 The Square provided its Big Screen to Marysville to help the community's healing. Wish You Were Here is a logical extension of our support to this regional Victorian township.

"The Wish You Were Here campaign also engages Marysville and the wider community through Fed Story, an online portal where people can upload their personal stories and experiences of their visits to Marysville and the scenic township. Fed Story is used as an educational resource for Victorian Schools.

"The Wish You Were Here Marysville scenic images by photographer Donovan Wilson are available for download at fedsquare.com/marysville to spread the message to thousands of people."

Simon Sponza from Bendigo Bank said that Bendigo Bank staff will be adding the Wish You Were Here Marysville images to their Facebook pages, email signatures and distributing tens of thousands of messages in support of the promotion to increase day trips and overnight stays at Marysville.
