UDIA Chief takes on New Role

Tony De Domenico, Executive Director of the Urban Development Institute of Australia, Victoria, for the past ten years, has retired from the organisation to take up the role of Chairman of Places Victoria.

UDIA Victoria President, David Payes congratulated Mr. De Domenico on his appointment and praised him for taking the UDIA into a position as the pre-eminent voice in the Victorian property industry.

"Under Tony's and the Board's leadership, UDIA Victoria has grown immensely over the past ten years with its membership almost doubling to over 300 corporate members, and its influence growing accordingly. UDIA Victoria is now recognised by all sides of politics and all levels of government for its strategic input into all aspects of the development industry, one of Victoria's key economic drivers."

Mr. De Domenico's career has spanned almost 40 years in various roles throughout Australia and overseas, across industry and commerce, education, insurance, government relations, advocacy, property and the media.

For the past three years he has also served as Deputy Chancellor at LaTrobe University, acting as Chair of the Infrastructure & Estates Planning Committee and Deputy Chair of the Corporate Governance and Audit Committee.

Reinforcing his life-long interest in multi-cultural affairs, Mr. De Domenico is also President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Commenting on his changing role, Mr. De Domenico said Places Victoria is entering a period of major responsibility in assisting in the delivery of sustainable development with innovation that reflects Melbourne as the world's most liveable city.

"My experience over the past decade with the Urban Development Institute of Australia has enabled me to work closely in a collaborative spirit with all levels of government and the community to produce viable outcomes for meeting the increasing demands for housing," Mr. De Domenico said.
