The opening of  'Masters and Mentors' at Kirra Galleries on 14 October 2010 to celebrate the 30th year of Monash University's Department of Fine Arts Glass Studio, which opened in 1980, attracted a full house with artists and guests filling the Gallery.

Kirra Galleries Director, Peter Kolliner OAM, speaking at the opening of the 8th annual Flame on Glass Exhibition said the exhibition had grown from fourteen artists in the first Flame on Glass Exhibition to twenty eight artists, with many pieces being of world standard. Of the initial fourteen artists, seven artists have been continuously involved since the first Flame on Glass Exhibition in 2003.

Eighth National Flame on Glass Exhibition at Fed Square

Demonstrations of the ancient form of glass art, lampworking, a technique which uses a gas fuelled torch to melt, manipulate and shape rods and tubes of clear and coloured glass will be part of the Flame on Glass Exhibition at Kirra Galleries in Federation Square from 9 September 2010.
