Artist Statement

Miles Johnson

The large hand-blown glass work was inspired by the Anigozanthos flavidus (Kangaroo Paw). This unique Australian flower has both bold and rich colours which translate beautifully into glass. The Kangaroo Paw has a great dance of movement in its flowers which reflect the dynamic sculptural forms of glass. In the great tradition of making flowers in glass, as is so evident in Boston's Harvard Museum of Natural History, this work endeavours to capture the magnificence of the Anigozanthos flavidus.

Always in bloom, even Lighting in Winter.
Miles Johnson
