Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club will celebrate its tenth birthday on Sunday 7 February 2010 by hosting a special tournament with the members of the Horsham Golf Club, that was badly damaged by the Black Saturday Fires on Saturday 7 February 2009.

Sunday 7 February 2010 is the 10th anniversary of Greg Norman officially opening the course.

The Phoenix Challenge was created last year when Sanctuary Lakes held a special fundraising event for the Horsham Golf Club.

Brett Mackie, Captain of the Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club said the day will be a special one for all of the players providing another opportunity to look forward whilst appreciating the circumstance which had brought the Club's together.

The commemorative golf game will commence at 8.00am on Sunday with a Shotgun start and be followed by lunch and a presentation at the Club.

Mr Mackie said it was fitting such a golf game was played on the 10th anniversary of the opening of the course by Greg Norman, the course designer, and the Premier of the day Steve Bracks, as over the past ten years several million dollars have been raised for the community and good causes with strong support of members and the wider community.

The trophy for the Phoenix Challenge will be a resurrected golf club from the Black Saturday fires at the Horsham Golf Club.
