Kidney Health Australia

Some of Australia's best known faces appear on a new Kidney Health Australia online 'I Kidney Check Community Gallery' which has been launched in the lead up to Kidney Health Week.

Kidney Health Australia is calling for community members to add their personal stories and reflections to the gallery about the impact of kidney disease and spread the word to become part of 'I Kidney Check Community Gallery.'

The online gallery including personal video messages is designed to build awareness and concern for kidney health and kidney disease prevention across the Australian community.

  • Over 1.5 million Australians may be unaware they have indicators of chronic kidney disease
  • Chronic kidney disease in Australia is highly undiagnosed
  • If kidney disease is caught early, it can either be halted or progression to end stage kidney disease can be slowed by as much as 50%
  • You can lose up to 90 per cent of kidney function without knowing it - there are often no warning signs
  • Kidney disease is known as the Silent Killer

I'm an Australian rules footballer playing for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League. I Kidney Check because I had an acute kidney injury on the field in 2014, and I now understand that I could be in a high risk group for developing kidney disease."
