Seven chosen works from the Green Wedge Paint Out will be exhibited at the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Offices in Rosebud for the next four months.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor, Cr. Bryan Payne paid tribute to the artists involved saying the Paint Out had been one of the major highlights of the Mornington Peninsula Shire's Thin Edge of the Green Wedge community awareness campaign.

Cr. Payne said the interaction between artists and the landscape of the Green Wedge produced an outstanding collection of works, varying in technique and producing glimpses of the changing moods of the landscapes.

"The paintings from the Green Wedge Paint Out enable our community to gain a wider appreciation of the special environment we all enjoy, and the Council and community needs to protect."

Cr. Payne also acknowledged the assistance of two local artists, Jennifer Riddle and Ken Smith, who ran the Green Wedge Paint Outs for over forty artists, and the work of the Council's staff responsible for organising the event, judging and curating of the Exhibition in the Council Chamber.

 A $500 bursary was awarded to Chris Pubela for the most inspiring art work 
titled Natural Beauty (oil on canvas) which captures the open space at Bittern Reservoir.

"The chosen art works from the Green Wedge Paint Out will be exhibited during the next few months in the Council Chamber. All Councillors, staff and visitors will have a constant reminder of the importance to protect the Green Wedge, which covers 70% of the Mornington Peninsula Shire."

The Encouragement Award, a $250 bursary was awarded to William Goodwin for his oil on canvas
 titled Green Wedge 1.

Cr. Payne congratulated the one hundred artists who took part in the inaugural Thin Edge of the Green Wedge Paint Out.

"The Thin Edge of the Green Wedge has been a highly successful ongoing program and we will all look forward to our artists continuing to capture the spirit of the Green Wedge," Cr. Payne said.
