Steven Potts, CEO of Vicsport said, the Victorian Sports Awards, staged in conjunction with the Victorian Government, provide an opportunity for local communities and clubs to highlight the contribution of individuals and teams to sport in Victoria.
Mr Potts said the Victorian Sports Awards also provide a stage to showcase the civic capacity of team work between all levels of Government, communities and clubs in the development and management of expanding sports, facilities and the promotion of health benefits of sport and active recreation in a changing environment.
"The Awards recognise the quiet achievers in sport, including club volunteers, and leaders in sports organisations striving to make a difference by introducing new methods of management to increase the opportunities to grow and expand sporting and active recreation opportunities to the community.
"This year we expect to see an increase in the number of women nominated for awards especially with the rapid expansion of women's sport in Victoria."
The Victorian Sports Awards will honour those who have made an outstanding contribution to sport in Victoria as an individual or team, athletes, coaches, administrators and volunteers from both metropolitan and regional areas in Victoria.
If you know an athlete, coach, official, volunteer, organisation, club, initiative or event that deserves to be recognised for an outstanding 2017, celebrate their achievements by nominating them for a Victorian Sports Award.
