Polly the Pig, a much-loved resident at Edgar's Mission, a not-for-profit farm sanctuary at Kilmore for rescued animals that have been mistreated, will put her best hoof forward this morning at Fed Square to announce a Blessing of the Animals on 10 October.

After rolling out her own red carpet Polly and her friend Timmy the Sheep will strut the red carpet with Pam Ahern, the Australian Ambassador for World Animal Day to promote the need for people to care for animals.

Fed Square and St Paul's Cathedral will welcome all creatures great and small to Fed Square on Friday 10 October to be blessed by The Most Reverend Dr. Philip Freier and The Very Reverend Dr. Andreas Loewe to give thanks to the contribution animals make to society.

At the blessing Associate Professor Elizabeth Tudor, Veterinary Science Faculty, University of Melbourne will speak.

The Choir of St Paul's Cathedral will sing songs giving thanks to creation.
