This morning Fed Square will present a preview screening of the global film 'One Day on Earth' on the Big Screen along with the red carpet guest of honour 'Polly the Pig'.

Polly the Pig's starring scene will be watched by thousands of people around the world in the global screening of One Day on Earth - premiering on Sunday 22 April in 160 countries including screenings at Melbourne's Fed Square, The Mind Museum in the Philippines, Schikaneder Kino in Austria and UN General Assembly in New York.

Polly is a much-loved resident at Edgar's Mission, a not-for-profit farm sanctuary at Kilmore for rescued animals that have been mistreated. Polly came to the Mission as an orphaned piglet in 2010 and has grown to become a winner of the RSPCA Million Paws Walk award for Best Trick - she beat all the dogs!

Their submission to the filming project will also be shown.

One Day on Earth began in September 2008 as a new media project to create a unique video time capsule, a global online community and feature-length film - all from participant footage captured during a single 24-hour period - 11 November 2011 (11/11/11).

The resulting feature-length documentary film includes the work of more than 19,000 volunteer filmmakers - novice and professionals; showcasing important global issues and a dazzling array of human experiences, from a woman who collects clocks in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro to the birthday party of an eleven year old in Shepparton, Victoria.

'One Day on Earth' Global Screening - Fed Square, 5.30pm - 7.30pm Sunday 22 April 2012.

About One Day on Earth
One Day on Earth
began in September 2008 as a new media project to create a unique video time capsule, global online community and feature-length film - all from participant footage captured during the 24-hour period of 10 October 2010 (10/10/10). Founder/Director Kyle Ruddick and Co-founder/Executive Producer Brandon Litman established the project as a shared archive, allowing all participants to use and edit the footage to show their interpretation of the world. One Day on Earth also works closely with dozens of non-profit and non-governmental organisations to document important social issues, holding annual global collaborations.
