Federation Square

Fed Square today announced it will take part in the first ever global screening of a film shot on one single day in every country around the world.

The movie, One Day on Earth, will be screened in every country of the world on the same day on Sunday 22 April 2012 -Earth Day. One Day on Earth began in September 2008 as a new media project to create a unique video time capsule, global online community and feature-length film - all from participant footage captured during a 24-hour period each year, including 10 October 2010 (10/10/10) and 11 November 2011 (11/11/11).

The resulting feature-length documentary film includes the work of more than 19,000 volunteer filmmakers - novice and professional; showcasing important global issues and a dazzling array of human experiences, from a woman who collects clocks in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro to the birthday party of an eleven year old in Shepparton, Victoria.

On 22 April the film will premiere in 160 countries around the world, including screenings at the UN General Assembly in New York, the Mind Museum in the Philippines and the Galapagos Islands.

The Melbourne screening will take place at Fed Square in Melbourne at 5.30pm.

Jane Sydenham-Clarke from Fed Square said, "One Day on Earth, like Federation Square celebrates both our diversity and all that binds us together".

Kyle Ruddick, Founder and Director of One Day on Earth explains, "the film contains a message of hope, but also a strong call to action for positive change on issues that face both the global and local communities."

About One Day on Earth
One Day on Earth began in September 2008 as a new media project to create a unique video time capsule, global online community and feature-length film - all from participant footage captured during the 24-hour period of 10 October 2010 (10/10/10) and 11 November 2011 (11/11/11).

Founder/Director Kyle Ruddick and Co-founder/Executive Producer Brandon Litman established the project as a shared archive, allowing all participants to use and edit the footage to show their interpretation of the world. One Day on Earth also works closely with dozens of non-profit and non-governmental organisations to document important social issues, holding annual global collaborations.

Edgar's Mission is a not-for-profit Farm Sanctuary that seeks to create a humane and just world for humans and non-humans.
Edgar's Mission is set on 60 peaceable acres in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range at Willowmavin, Kilmore, in the state of Victoria, Australia.
Our farm sanctuary currently provides life-long love and care to over 250 rescued animals.

Edgar's Mission was founded by Pam Ahern and named after her first rescued pig, Edgar.
Edgar Alan Pig, aka "the pig who started it all" sadly passed away shortly after his 7th birthday party in April 2010. Edgar, a gentle giant, touched so many people and was an amazing ambassador for pigs and farmed animals everywhere.
