The Green Wishing Penguin is the focus of the Fed Square's free December program, Spirit of the Square to promote the festive spirit of giving and sharing.

For the month of December the community will be invited to share their Christmas wishes by picking up a special wishing card from the Salvos at Fed Square and putting it in the Penguin's egg, with wishes screened daily on the Big Screen and Fed Square's electronic messaging platforms.

Melburnians are encouraged to track the Penguin's route through the city on their mobile phones and upload the vision to YouTube or to meet at Fed Square for the grand arrival at 8am.

Following a welcome speech by the Salvation Army Commander, Brendan Nottle, two small children will be the first to place their Christmas wish in the Penguin's bright red egg.
