Sir Jack Brabham, who suffers from kidney failure and his wife
Lady Margaret Brabham are patrons of Kidney Health Australia.
Kidney
Health Australia and REPCO have announced a major partnership to
raise community awareness of Kidney Disease in Australia and funds
to assist patients.
Anne Wilson, CEO of Kidney Health Australia said Chronic Kidney
Disease is known as the Silent Killer as people can lose up to 90%
of their kidney function without even knowing it, which makes
alerting people to the issue extremely difficult.
"1 in 7 adults has at least one clinical sign of existing
Chronic Kidney Disease and approximately 2 million Australians may
be affected by early-stage kidney disease and don't even know it."
"The partnership arrangement with REPCO through its three hundred
stores in Australia and mass communication opportunities will
provide Kidney Health Australia a unique and valuable opportunity to
'Make A Noise About The Silent Killer.'
Ms Wilson said we will be able to promote the importance of
regular testing, early detection and information to help people keep
their kidneys healthy on a scale which has never before been
available to us as a not for profit charity.
Colin Daly, Executive General Manager of REPCO said, REPCO was
looking forward to once again working with Sir Jack Brabham and Lady
Margaret on the vital promotion of Chronic Kidney Disease to the
Australian community.
"Everyday our stores across Australia are visited by tens of
thousands of customers of all ages and we see our partnership with
Kidney Health Australia as a major corporate commitment to our
customers, staff and the Australian community on an important health
issue.
"The campaign will commence next week in our stores across
Australia on World Kidney Day with different promotions designed to
engage the community every month."
Sir Jack and Lady Margaret Brabham welcomed the announcement
saying they were extremely pleased to be working with REPCO which
backed Sir Jack in his bid to race and win the world championship in
a car designed by him and powered by the REPCO engines.
"Living with kidney failure has been one of the toughest drives
of my life and the support of REPCO in assisting the Australian
community become more aware of Chronic Kidney Disease will be a
major boost to the prevention of the disease in Australia and the
work of Kidney Health Australia."
