Second and third home buyers have ignored rising interest rates purchasing thirty three blocks of land in three days at the prestigious Sanctuary Lakes Resort last week.

Sanctuary Lakes Club and Resort Real Estate Director Ruth Ritchie said the land buying frenzy over the three day period reflected the strength of the market in well located premium land.

"The vast majority of the land sold was sold to local buyers within a ten to fifteen kilometre radius. Many of these land buyers had indicated the bullish property market had enabled them to expect a good price for their established home to fund their move to their new lifestyle at Sanctuary Lakes.

"The popularity of the most recent land release, which sold out in three days, was stimulated by the fact that many of the lots for sale had park views. Park view lots ranged from 400 sq metres at $220,000 to 568 sq metres at $266,000.

"People buying onto Sanctuary Lakes are generally making their decision based on the quality of the environment linked to the extensive open space, the lake, the resort style facilities and the championship Greg Norman designed 18 hole golf course.

"30% of all land at Sanctuary Lakes is either on the waterfront or on the golf course with a series of parks and reserves throughout the project. 50% of the entire project is public open space.

"Sanctuary Lakes lots are about 20% to 30% more expensive than surrounding land, however, home buyers are purchasing the quality environment, location and the lifestyle being offered at Sanctuary Lakes".

Ms Ritchie said Sanctuary Lakes was a leader in residential lifestyle living when it was started some fourteen years ago and still maintains that position today.
