Lions and motor bike
enthusiasts are set to create a lot of noise about
Australia's 'Silent Killer' -kidney disease with the
Wodonga Lions Club Motorbike Show and Shine on Sunday 1
November 2009. Organised by the Wodonga
Lions on the Lincoln Causeway, Wodonga, the Show and
Shine event, with over 200 vintage and classic
motorcycles will provide a unique opportunity for
motorcyclist enthusiasts to experience some of the best
motorcycles in Australia, according to organiser Colin
Broster.
"We are looking for motorcyclist
enthusiasts from all over Victoria and New South Wales
to attend the event. This alcohol free family event will
also feature many trade displays.
"Entertainment
will also include live music. There is a $5.00 entry fee
for adults and children under 12 free.
Mr
Broster said the event will raise funds for the Wodonga
Lions Club and Kidney Health Australia.
Anne
Wilson, CEO of Kidney Health Australia congratulated the
Wodonga Lions Club on such an innovative event.
Ms Wilson said approximately 2 million
Australians may be affected by early-stage kidney
disease and don't even know it. Kidney disease often has
no symptoms at all. It is common for people to lose up
to 90% of their kidney function before developing any
symptoms making it a Silent Killer.
"Kidney
disease kills forty people every day in Australia."
Ms Wilson said Kidney Health Australia is
appreciative of the assistance of the Wodonga Lions
Club, the City of Wodonga and all of the supporters of
the event to assist in raising funds and awareness of
chronic kidney disease in Australia.
