Vandals Cause Thousands of Dollars Damage
in Attack on
Kidney Health Australia National
Headquarters
...
Forty people a day die from kidney disease in
Australia.
Vandals have caused
thousands of dollars damage in an attack on the national
headquarters of Kidney Health Australia in
York Street, South Melbourne.
Anne Wilson, CEO of
Kidney Health Australia said with forty people a day in
Australia dying from kidney related disease, the
organisation has its hands full dealing with major
health issues without having to cope with the
irresponsible costly actions of
vandals.
"The organisation was shocked by the
attack, with a bollard being thrown through the front
window of the office."
Ms Wilson said the building is clearly
identified as Kidney Health Australia's offices and
anyone or group undertaking such as an act would have
known they were attacking a charity which
represents tens of thousands of Australians with chronic
kidney disease.
"In these tough times charities such as
Kidney Health Australia depends on every dollar we can
raise to put into our work for the community, not pay
for acts of vandalism.
"This attack is just another example of
vandals being in charge of the streets of Melbourne,
especially on the weekend."
Ms Wilson urged anyone with knowledge
of the attack to contact the South Melbourne Police.
