Yesterday Marysville's only town doctor,
Lachlan Fraser, promoted the upcoming Marysville
Marathon Festival by running from the Big Screen in
Marysville to the Big Screen at Federation
Square.
Lachlan's screen-to-screen run began at
sunrise in Marysville, in front of the large screen,
formerly located at Fed Square, that was set up in the
town following the devastating fires.

In the company of supporters who were on foot and
on horseback, he set off as the day dawned, being
greeted and cheered on by supporters, Local Member Fran
Bailey MP and the local CFA at Healesville, before
his arrival at the new Fed Square screen at
5:30pm.

There he was welcomed by 20 Chinese drummers from
the Chinese Festival being held at Fed Square.
Since the tragic events in February, along with
many others, Lachlan has worked tirelessly to support
the district's residents and help to rebuild shattered
lives and communities. The primary aim of the
Festival is to provide residents, tourists and
supporters with an opportunity to once again enjoy the
delights of the region, so long a favourite place for
relaxation in beautiful mountain surroundings.
This event is destined to become an iconic annual
attraction, allowing runners and supporters to see the
bush and town regenerate.
The Marysville Marathon Festival
culminates on Sunday 8th November with four
running/walking events, starting and finishing in
Marysville - 42km, 21km, 10km and 3km. It
is expected that the longer distances will attract
serious runners, while the shorter distances are ideal
for individuals and families who want to support
rebuilding of the community, by running or walking these
events.
All proceeds will go to the local
CFA and SES, as well as to the Kingbilli Wildlife
Refuge, a local sanctuary for orphaned and injured
animals.
