David Hallett The new service is an adaptation of the popular Architects Advice program, which has provided Victorian home owners with professional design and construction advice for the past thirty years. David Hallett, Victorian State Manager of Archicentre said "this new service has been developed in support of the guide to protecting homes against bushfires launched by the Building Commission this week". "One of the key findings of the Royal Commission was that owners of existing homes should be provided with information to help them prepare and protect their homes against bushfire attack. The Building Commission's new Guide provides all the information homeowners need," he said. Archicentre's Bushfire Ready Inspection Service will provide home owners in higher risk areas such as the Dandenongs, the Yarra Valley and the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas, with an on-site inspection by an Archicentre Architect, a Bushfire Attack Level assessment and a written report listing the most appropriate actions to take.
Mr Hallett said "every site and every home is different, and with as many as nine different building elements to consider including roofs, doors, walls and windows, there is a lot to consider. Our reports will assess the fire risk and provide people with clear recommendations for their own home."
