Cuts Two Years off Suburb's Development Schedule
The completion of the
golfing residential suburb Sandhurst has been shortened by two years following
a revised construction program to cope with the opening of EastLink on the weekend.
Links Living spokesperson
Guy Cole said the projected construction schedule had been shortened from five
years to three to cope with the forecast impact of the opening of EastLink.
The 310 acre project already
has five hundred homes completed and a further sixty under construction and
will have 1850 residences when completed in three years by 2011.
Mr. Cole said, "reports
of commercial property jumping by 20% in areas adjacent to the new toll way
is likely to be mirrored in the residential sector once EastLink opens.
"We are forecasting a strong
period for housing once EastLink is open as owners will move to capitalise on
EastLink's convenience.
"The reality is we have
already completed 50% of the project and all major infrastructure including
recycled water to every home and the delivery of the Club precinct including
Health Club, indoor heated swimming pool, gymnasium with state of the art equipment,
Clubhouse and tennis courts."
Mr. Cole said that $35 million
has been spent on the establishment and maintenance of the environment at Sandhurst
to enrich the ecology of the region which previously had been degraded farming
land and another $24 million has been spent on recreation and leisure facilities.
