Political Briefing online www.sustainabilitywiz.com
The Prime
Minster Kevin Rudd, Treasurer Wayne Swan and Minister for Climate Change Penny
Wong and the Leader of the Opposition Brendan Nelson are among the first people
to be briefed about the World's first online climate change education program
which has been created in Australia.
Gould Group
CEO Ann-Maree Colborne said the Sustainability
Wiz the world's first online learning portal to deliver sustainability education,
training and tools for schools and can be turned on for schools in Australia
within twenty four fours.
The Gould Group
who have delivered environmental education for nearly 100 years in Australia
have released "The Sustainability
Wiz" with an online political briefing to all Members of Parliament on the
eve of the Federal Budget which is forecast to allocate some $2.5 billion on
coping with climate change.
Sustainability
Wiz is the result of a partnership with Etech Group, building on their highly
successful Studywiz product, an online Virtual Learning Environment technology
that is now used by schools in over 20 countries worldwide.
Ms Colborne said the Sustainability
Wiz was developed because:
There is insufficient/inadequate
sustainability education content available online to meet community needs
Online education is
cost-efficient, innovative, and accessible locally, nationally or internationally,
thereby overcoming time and geographical limitations
It provides the means
to build international direction, leadership and capacity in sustainability
education and action for governments, schools, businesses and communities
It provides easy-to-use,
consistent and standard tools to track: resource use; savings; performances
against targets; establish standard national benchmarks across metropolitan
and rural areas and different sized organisations
It provides opportunities
for companies to partner schools in their community through carbon off-setting
and corporate social responsibility actions in funding schools annual license
fees
Burdekin
Christian College, a small school of 71 students in Ayr, north Queensland is
leading Australia in Climate change education. The college has become the first
Australia school to implement the online climate change education program the
Sustainability Wiz.
The Sustainability
Wiz allows students from around the world to engage in addressing climate change
through actions in their school and the community and tackle issues such as
carbon footprint, water and energy usage to create schools for the future. This
will mean that students from Burdekin Christian College will be able to share
ideas and climate change knowledge with students from around Australia and around
the world.
