Fed Square, one of Australia's most talked about architectural
icons is changing its face.
Melbourne's most popular location has been transformed with a
large scale installation of portrait photos from a new book
All of Us by Melbourne based photographer and writer
Michel Lawrence.

Square
The
All of Us exhibition will be opened by the Premier,
the Hon. John Brumby this morning, on the eve of Australia Day
with the Australian Children's Choir performing
"I Am Australian".
All of Us records 200 Australians from almost every
national and/or ethnic origin.
Kate Brennan CEO of Fed Square said, "this unique use of Fed
Square as a canvas for the collection of photos will provide
Melbourne with a major exhibition open twenty four hours a day and
will be complemented by images on Fed Square's Big Screen".
"In the next two months this unique exhibition of Australians
will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people who will pass
through Fed Square and is an outstanding example of Fed Square's
ability to showcase a major community arts event".
Michel Lawrence, said all people featured in the exhibition were
born overseas and almost all of them have chosen to become
Australian Citizens, making Australia their home.
"The photos are portraits of these people in their own homes or
environments which depict their lives in their country of choice".
Mr Lawrence said that most people have no idea how many different
nationalities are currently living in Australia and the concept of
All of Us is to show them as ordinary people living
ordinary lives - but with some extraordinary backgrounds.
