$10 Million
Investment Boost for Sandhurst Club
Sandhurst Club
has set a $10 million investment agenda for 2005 which will see a new health
club built in the Club Precinct and the commencement of the second golf course
known as the Champions Course.

Sandhurst Clubhouse and
the North Course
Mr Stephen Head, Managing
Director of the Links Group said, "The Sandhurst Health Club, will include
a 25-metre indoor heated pool, a gymnasium including machine and free weights,
a cardio room, aerobics studio, spa, sauna and all the modern trappings of
a first class fitness centre."
"Whilst many other
development projects are slowing or going into a holding pattern at Sandhurst
we are gearing up for major expenditure and development to add even more value
and equity to the project for residents and the 600 plus golf members."
"The health club is
expected to commence early in 2005, take around ten months to complete and
will add significant value to Sandhurst Club."
"The design of the
recreation centre has evolved very much to reflect and embrace the community
focus of Sandhurst in general."
Mr Head said that
we are looking at creating a high-end health club rather than the standard
community recreation centre you'd find in most suburbs. "The approach to design
has been from a holistic wellbeing and social perspective."
"Reflecting the style
and context of the existing Clubhouse located next door, the 250 square metre
(plus pool area) building will be user friendly, including disabled access,
and strike a modern pose in terms of style."
"Its prominent positioning
and high profile design will naturally draw people to it as a major focus
of the residential community."
Experienced gymnasium
operator, Corpfit, has been approached to fit-out and manage the facility,
drawing on over eleven years' experience supplying unique professional health
and fitness services.
Also beginning early
in 2005 will be the construction of the second eighteen-hole Champions Course.
The Champions Course will host players hitting down long avenues of tree-lined
fairways which themselves will be more gently contoured than the North Course.
The Champions Course
will honor Australia's golfing legends with individual holes assigned to one
of 18 of Australia's greatest tournament golfers. Past favorites to make it
on to the list include Norman von Nida, Kel Nagle, Bill Dunk and Peter Thomson.
Modern champions like Greg Norman, Ian Baker-Finch, Wayne Grady and Craig
Parry also made the cut.
A plaque near each
tee will reflect the respective achievements of the player whose hole bears
his name.
Turn point the golf
course builder will commence earth works almost immediately on the course.
Routed to meander
through the residential community, the Champions Course will offer extensive
frontage to residential areas.
Champion golfer Wayne
Grady was a recent visitor to the Sandhurst Club site, leading the Australasian
PGA Tour Board on a familiarization which also covered the existing North
Course and clubhouse.
