“From a health promotion point of view, injury prevention is certainly a key priority,” said VicHealth CEO Dr Rob Moodie.
“A strong research base and ongoing monitoring in the area of injury prevention and surveillence are priorities for developing effective health promotion programs.
Successful health promotion relies on disseminating knowledge and research findings to ensure maximum benefit. VicHealth recognises the importance of establishing a strong research and development capacity. Certainly we remain committed to reducing injuries among Victorians by supporting organisations such as the Monash University Accident Research Centre.”
“Between 1993 and 2003 VicHealth will have provided funding to VISAR of more than $3 million to ensure the collection of data and research with a long-term view to injury prevention and harm reduction within Victoria.”
“The success of VISAR’s work in identifying injury types and causes demonstrates reinforces the importance of data and research in developing a systematic and integrated approach to injury prevention and harm reduction.
