QLD Education Minister, Hon. Dean Wells presents BP Education Grants
Queensland Projects 23 Queensland schools awarded
2/08/2000
BP has once again funded a wide range of innovative programs which focus on the learning outcomes of students in secondary schools. The BP Education Grants for Schools Program, in operation since 1992, has provided grants to over 120 school projects in Queensland.
BP Grants Program was designed to provide funding to enable schools to offer innovative projects that encourage and extend the learning of the students, forging closer links between industry and schools, forming a closer partnership between BP Australia and the Education Sector and involving participation by members of both the school and broader community.
This year over 144 Queensland schools applied for funding with 23 projects being successful. The winning schools were presented with their grants by the Minister for Education, Hon Dean Wells MLA at a special awards function in Brisbane on 25 July.
BP representatives on the 2000 Awards Panel were joined by
Hazel Parkins (Education Queensland) Judy Gardiner (Qld Catholic Education Commission) and Robyn Laurens (Qld Association of Independent Schools).
Alex Anderson, BP’s Community Affairs Manager, said that the panel was very impressed by the number and the high standard of applications. Schools from all over Queensland have shared in this years awards.
